I took parcel to depot to avoid waiting in for collection. Couldn't 'time-slot' be allocated for collection as well as delivery?

delivery arranged sunday evening, Courier told me by phone on tuesday they got information after 12pm monday, no use on a 24 hr service,

Courier didnt collect parcel on the said date. they say parcel money had IT id=issues. i have to pay compensation for the late delivery
