Qatar continues to grow as a shipping destination with more and more expats heading there to live or work, whilst businesses often send documents, spare parts and business consignments via the courier services available on courier comparison sites such as ours. It is estimated in fact that 500 expats arrive at Doha airport every day, so with this in mind plus new and ever-improving infrastructure in Qatar, the volume of parcels sent there is on the rise.
Qatar recently relaxed it's VISA requirements so it is now one of the most laid-back countries in the region, which will, in turn, stimulate more nationals to arrive. With greater volumes of cross-border trade comes more competitive shipping rates, such as our excellent DPD Pickup service available to book from under £15.
The State of Qatar is a sovereign state and a peninsula on the significantly larger Arabian Peninsula and shares a relatively short land border with Saudi Arabia.
From the 1940's the country experienced rapid economic growth due to the metaphorical explosion in the oil and gas industries. In recent years the Qatari government have started to reduce its reliance on the energy sector, however, 50 per cent of GDP and over four-fifths of export revenues are related to this industry. The country does remain one of the richest in terms of per capita income of any nation.
Qatar is scheduled to host the football World Cup in 2022, which will drive the amount of parcel shipping to this nation up, however recent sanctions and embargoes imposed by its neighbours could also have implications on the country, with ties severed with Bahrain, Egypt, the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Qatar will be looking to combat any of these sanctions in time for the main event, in order to ease travel and supply chain issues.
To send a parcel to Qatar via a courier rather than standard post, the expected delivery time can be as quick as 2-3 days from the date of collection for DHL Air Express. This is a premium delivery service with full DHL tracking collected from a home or work address.
We also have other Express delivery services that can get your parcel delivered to cities such as Doha and Al Rayyan in as little as 3-4 days via Parcel Monkey Air Express, our own brand hybrid service, which is sent out of the UK via a Freight Forwarder and delivered just a day or two later than DHL, but for half the price.
For those who do not have such sensitive delivery times, we offer a range of DPD and Parcelforce services who both deliver in 3-6 days, as well as economy solutions like TrakPak. It seems that all the carriers want to have a presence in this region which is great for our customers as we can offer a wide choice of international parcel delivery services to meet every time frame and budget.
If you are looking to see how much will it cost to book a courier to deliver a parcel to Qatar then consider that the prices to send a package will vary according to a number of factors such as-
A light packet can be sent from our starting price of under £15 whereas typically a package with a weight of around 4kg cost around £27 using DPD Pickup, where you drop it off at a local DPD shop or DPD Classic where the goods are collected from you.
If you have a large and heavy parcel to ship to Qatar which might weigh 25kg then Parcel Monkey Air Express or TrakPak would be the best value as they come in at under £120.
It only takes a few seconds to get a quote for your exact parcel, simply put in your dimensions and pick the courier service which meets your time frame and budget.
All countries have some degree of import restrictions and Qatar is no different. You can locate their Customs website (in Arabic) here.
Some of the prohibited and restricted items include; alcohol, films/entertainment, magazines, radar equipment.
