This particular method of accessing the courier network has become more popular due to our more hectic lifestyles. Choosing to drop off your parcel at a depot allows you to take this function into your own hands as many depots are open from 8am to 7pm or 8pm during weekday evenings and from 8am to 12noon or later on Saturdays. As depots are about economies of scale there won't necessarily be on in your town or city, but most major conurbations will have one within half an hour's drive.
For Blackburn the closest Parcelforce depot is located at Bamber Bridge as this gives the company significant scope to send their parcels via HGV up and down the M65, M61 and across the country on the M65. If you live in or near the centre of Blackburn it may only take you 20 minutes out of the rush hour to get there. If you work in Preston then this may be a convenient stop off on your way to or from work, if you wanted to have an alternative route to the A677.
