As Japan is one of our most important trading partners, and despite some relatively slow economic growth over the past two decades, as a courier company we still assist a large number of British residents to send parcels to Japan.
A large proportion of those parcels are of a business or commercial nature, but we have also seen a significant growth in the number of packages labelled as containing domestic goods. This may be related to the sheer volume of British expats in Japan. Currently, Britain has the third largest number of nationals residing in Japan after America and Germany. We obviously have a large number of Japanese tourists visiting our historic and cultural sites who often do not wish to wait to return some of their purchases and who do arrange couriers to ship them back to Japan.
If you need an Express delivery service from the UK to Japan we have discounted rates with DHL Express in just 2-3 working days or you make use of the Parcel Monkey Air Express delivery service which is collected by Parcelforce and delivered in Japan by DHL fully tracked for half of the price with the only difference being a 1-2 day delay.
If cost is the most important factor, we offer low cost tracked mail delivery using TrakPak which has a slower transit time but is a great deal cheaper than express options.
When you do send a parcel to Japan it is important to understand the rules regarding duties and restrictions. If you would like to understand the process then the Japanese Customs authority has a useful website full of great information.
The address for the authority is: Customs and Tariff Bureau, 3-1-1 Kasumigaseki, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo 100-8940, JAPAN
I have used Parcel Monkey for international deliveries many times and very happy with their excellent service. Tracking system is so good and I have been impressed by the prompted delivery each time.
Great value, service and very speedy delivery. Never had any problems using Parcel Monkey.
Good idea allowing customers to drop off parcels at their Post Office this does free us up and prevents wasting a day/s with being let down, this works great and probably improves the collection service too. Not happy that all of a sudden dropping off parcels at post office is more expensive than having a collection? How does that work then? Also quotes with parcel monkey changes hourly; e.g. sometimes we need to get a customer a precise shipping price so we check online to get it, the customer accepts the quote and we go back entering exactly the same dims and weight and the price has gone up with just an hour or two between checking and booking? This increase we have to pay not our customer who we have already quoted a price to. Parcelmonkeys Customer Service chat has always been reliable for us with prompt responses, so although we would normally criticize a company who failed to have telephone as a point of contact they certainly have made this system work and in our experience it works very well. The shippers we choose here are usually only Parcelforce and although over the years (we ship more than 600 parcels a year with various shippers and agents) there have been the occasional problems which depending on who we speak to can range from excellent to poor help (but thats from Parcelforce not Parcel Monkey). I am giving 5 stars despite my queries and concerns because shipping can be stressful and time consuming and it is an industry which isnt perfect. The fact that there is a drop off at post office option is great (although it should be cheaper than a collection service for obvious reasons). There can always be let downs from all of the shippers some for genuine reasons others for poor working protocol, some rarely some regularly so shipping has its problems and consideration to using a service is never perfect (thus we use several sources to ship and several regular shippers too).
excellent, will use again, thanks!
Fast and quick
This is the second time I have used Parcel Monkey, and the second time I have been delighted with the service given for the cost. Sending parcels to Japan is not easy at the best of time, thankfully Parcel Monkey have taken most of the stress away :)
The service was smooth, quite clear and I was able to weigh and measure the parcels, detail the contents online and complete the order pretty easily. I paid and was given a pick up date of the next day. I have four stars as this was my main problem. I was up early to ensure I did not miss the collection. But my parcels were not collected until 1900! If I’d been given a morning/ afternoon or evening slot it would have given more chance for me to do other things! I know the collection was quite late for a delivery to Japan hopefully to arrive for Christmas but that was my only problem! And I’m thrilled to report the parcels did arrive by Christmas Day!! Yey!!
Fantastic, parcel got there in record time. Thank You
