Do couriers deliver fridges?
IMPORTANT UPDATE 01/11/13: Please note, from this date we cannot accept any white goods, including, but not limited to: washing machines, fridges, tumble dryers, washer dryers, fridge freezers, refrigerators, freezers, dishwashers, cookers, ovens and hobs.
The content below is no longer relevant. However, we will keep it here for if we need to return it.
We have negotiated some heavily discounted prices for large, cumbersome and bulky items with specialists DX Freight. We do offer courier delivery via a wider range of couriers for smaller fridges such as those that fit under counters. A typical under-counter fridge, when adequately packaged for delivery, would measure 50cm x 50cm x 90cm and weight 27kg and cost £35.49+vat (at the time of writing) to send via DX Freight next day
A freestanding fridge, such as the Indesit CAA 55 measures approximately 62cm x 59cm x 180cm and weights 58kg and would cost approximately £48.93+vat to delivery on a next day basis.
Do you have any tips?
It is essential that when you book this service that you are aware that you may be required to give assistance to help move the fridge from the delivery vehicle to your front door and that suitable access would be necessary to allow delivery.
How does it work and what are the restrictions?
There are some details you should be aware of with this service. You'll need to print the shipping labels to be attached to the outer packaging of the door. The door can weigh no more than 500kg. If it too heavy or bulky the recipient may be required to move it from the courier's vehicle to your door and the delivery premises must be accessible. Furthermore, you must cover the item adequately for loss or damage.
