Let's be up front here. Our courier partners are excellent, but they're only human. By the same token, our customers are only human too, and hence we cannot guarantee how well their pottery, or other fragile items, are packaged.
It's not just us being over-cautious too. We've checked a good number of other courier services, and they all also offer the handling of ceramic or ceramics in the same we do - on a no compensations basis. This necessarily means that we cannot be held responsible for any ceramic items if they end up in an unsatisfactory condition on delivery. Please check our terms and conditions for more information.
The important thing to remember here is that the process of getting your parcel from "A" to "B" isn't one that has human involvement throughout. Part of reason that couriers can keep their prices down is that they use computers and machines for part of the process, as such they are not programmed to seek nor understand the meaning of a "fragile" label. Hence during this parcel delivery process they cannot treat an item with pottery or ceramics in any different than, say, a box of books or CDs. We would also like to make sure customers are aware that this is also the case with items secured with "fragile" tape.
