Do you have any advice when looking to send toys via a courier?
It’s all in the packaging.

There two golden rules when sending any parcel via a courier, the first is to check if the item you wish to have delivered is listed on the prohibitied items list or mentioned in our terms and conditions? It may be seen as unlikely that we'll ever list toys as something you can't send via a parcel delivery company, but please do consider there may be associated items listed such as 'canned liquids', 'chocolate', 'food', 'guitars' and 'un-packaged goods' which might have some cross-over. So please do make sure you read through the list thoroughly.

Currently Parcelforce restrict the shipping of paint-ball or toy guns so one should be aware of that too, if you choose to ship via them.

If you're sending your toys via a courier within the UK then the rules are pretty simple, however, when it comes to international parcel delivery it can get a bit more complex, for instance Spain and France don't like parcels being sent to them when the toys contain copper sulphate. Whilst Australia and Canada also has restrictions which you'll need to check.

Another aspect to be aware of is that of the packaging. As noticed before, at the time of writing, we don't allow un-packaged goods through the courier system, especially (but not limited to) bicycles, we further suggest that our customers heed our packaging advice and do what you can to reduce the chances of damage in transit by protecting your items well.

Often the packaging that the toys were purchased in won't be enough as when they're transited to the stores they're often packed with other materials too. We suggest that you place them in sturdy corrugated cardboard boxes and use extra packing such as polystyrene peanuts or scrunched up newspaper at least. Don't allow any "wiggle room" - over packaged is better than under.
