Useful information for sending a parcel to Jersey

An interesting aspect of the Channel Islands is that they're not a single national state. In fact Jersey is a group of islands including those of Minquiers and Écréhous, and the Pierres de Lecq which are uninhabited - and it’s doubtful they'll have addresses for our couriers to deliver parcels, let alone someone being present to accept delivery, Guernsey is another bailiwick of islands.

Interestingly Jersey is neither a member of the Commonwealth nor the European Union - even at Associate level. However the Crown Dependency does have a relationship with the EU via the Protocol 3 in relations with the UK's Treaty of Accession in 1972.

All this means that if you are sending a parcel to Jersey then you are actually subject to the customs laws of the Jersey government. You can find details for those here. GST is a form of tax and may be charged on goods imported (although it is unclear if the £240 including shipping limit where goods aren't charged GST are included if goods are couriered rather than personally transported).
