Useful information for sending a parcel to India

India has long been closely connected with the United Kingdom, making trade between the two nations important. Still, importing to India requires adherence to the country's rules and regulations.
Main Country Facts
India has been an extremely important trade partner for the United Kingdom for centuries. The Asian nation has the seventh-largest area of any country in the world. In addition, its 1.2 billion population creates the second-largest citizen-base in the world, with no other democratic country beating its numbers. While India's wealth was claimed by Britain for over a century, the country became independent in 1947 after the now-famous non-violence campaign led by Mahatma Ghandi.
India ranks number ten when measuring the nominal GDP of the country. However, only three countries can claim a higher purchasing power than India. India is a nuclear nation and has a strong military force. The country operates as a federal constitutional republic with a governing parliament. India has a wide variety of political competition, with at least six viable political parties. India is friendly with most nations, including the United Kingdom; most conflicts the country engages in are with their Asian neighbours. India has partnered specifically with France, Israel, the European Union and the United States to protect their interests.
Since the early 1990s, India has had an open economic policy. Strong industries include the service sector, agriculture and industry. India ranks fifteenth in world-wide imports, making it a crucial market for shipping. India is known for its strong production of cotton, fabric, steel, potatoes, chemicals, cement and oil.
