Import Restrictions To Be Aware Of When Sending A Parcel To Croatia
Although Croatia applied to become a member state of the European Union in 2003 and managed to secure 'candidate status' in 2004 they aren't actually a member of the EU just yet, although they are expected to do so in 2013.
At the time of writing you may need special permits for the importation of works of art, precious metals from the appropriate ministries. Please see our own list of
prohibited items before booking a parcel to Croatia.
You may also need a certificate of purchase and authenticity for consumer goods. Also you may be expected to pay a VAT rate (PDV) of 22%, whilst other rates may apply.
Currently the Croatian Customs services are creating their website detailing the restrictions which can be found
here, but you may also like to visit the
Croatian Ministry of Finance website.
Costs to Send a Parcel to Croatia
You probably thought it'd cost a lot more to send a parcel or package to Croatia than it actually is - with us at least. If you wanted an international courier for an item that can be delivered on a four day basis then you are looking at around £14.49 via DHL Road Express or on a one to two day service via DHL Air Express for just £17.49. Those prices are for a 1kg small parcel, but for a heavy/large parcel then we expect your parcel to cost around £44.99 for a four day delivery and £67.99 for an Air Express where your item is expect to be delivered with one or two days. These prices are somewhat similar to those for sending a parcel to
Bosnia Herzegovina.
